We do it because YOU deserve it. If you are weary of the pompous sensational or copycat stories that flood mainstream media headlines every day, if you are repulsed by the political squabbles constantly being fired across platforms, and if you are annoyed at being pushed around by advertisers shrouded in the guise of “edutainment”... Then FactWire is for YOU. We sniff around for social signals. We mine Big Data for facts. We investigate backgrounds. We research for knowledge. We work hard and persistently to bring you the full picture of the truth behind the news.
Hong Kong Free Press is a new, English-language media outlet for Hong Kong - it is not-for-profit, free-of-charge and completely independent. HKFP exists to bridge the language barrier and unite critical voices at a vital time in the city's political development. Amid rising concerns over press freedom, we seek to be a truly local news source for Hong Kong.
In the initial stage, the Monastery’s goal is to raise a sum of HK$500,000 in order to retain a professional consultant company to make various government applications, demolish illegal structures and to offer public tender for designers and architects. Once the renovation plan and the quotation for the estimated renovation fees are solidified, the Monastery will move to the second stage to raise further funds to start the work.

Through crowdfunding, we plan to raise HK$3 million for our operation this year.
Hong Kong Free Press has been hailed as a “breath of fresh air” for the city, publishing over 1,300 news and comment pieces in our first quarter alone. During that time, we attracted almost 1.5 million unique visitors, serving up over 5 million web pages. Proudly free-of-charge, not-for-profit and completely independent - we want to keep it this way. In the run-up to 2016, we are fundraising to a new target in order to: invest in original reporting, sustain our talented team, expand our operations with freelancers, ease our reliance on volunteers and hire a digital marketing expert.
Do you believe Hong Kong needs a new English language news source? Launching in June, Hong Kong Free Press is an independent news outlet seeking to unite critical voices at a vital time in the city's constitutional development.
