Swim Across Loch Ness 36.2km
Project by : Born To Swim International
Introduction
We, Born To Swim Team, are going to swim across Loch Ness in Scotland without wetsuits.
Date: 2-6 September 2019
Length of swim: 36.2km
Water: black in color
Estimated water temperature: 12-14 degree Celsius. Plus the monster mystery.
Our team consists of 4 swimmers and will swim across the lake in relay format. Each swimmer swims non-stop for 1 hour and another teammate continues until reaching the other end of Loch Ness.
Our Team and Experience:
Chun Kong MAK (Hong Kong, born 1986)
MAK is the first Hong Kong person who completed one ice kilometer and one ice mile swimming without a wetsuit in water under 5 degree Celsius. As a swimmer from sub-tropical climate, he is the 311th person in the world who completed ice mile swimming. He competes regularly in ice swimming races and long distance swimming (5km, 10km, 15km, 20km). In the 3rd International Ice Swimming Association World Championships in Murmansk, Russia in 2019, he was the bronze medalist in 1000m in his age category. This time, he is the leader to organize this swim challenge.
Kamil Cepelak (Czech Republic, born 1980)
CEPELAK was a former sprinter in 100m and 50m butterfly nine years ago and was Czech Master Champion. He started leisure ice swimming in recent winters. This Loch Ness swim challenge motivates him to train and challenge again. But this time, after finished his professional swimming career 9 year ago, he is going to challenge cold dark water and long distance for the first time in life as a 39-year-old man.
Ondrej Smisitel (Czech Republic, born 1994)
SMISITEL participates mainly in life saving sports. He also does ice swimming, long distance swimming and water polo. As the youngest member in the team, he gets the speed, energy and power. it will be an adventurous experience for him to put all strengths in life together.
Zdenek Slama (Czech Republic, born 1978)
SLAMA is the most experienced seasoned ice and long distance swimmer in the team. He was part of the relay team CZECH-IT last year in 2018 to swim two-way Northern Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland (80km). The team has set a new world record, neglecting strong current, 10-12 degrees cold water, 80km long distance and up-to-2-meter Lion’s Manes jellyfish. This Loch Ness swim will become definitely the next great achievement in his life.
