Africa Food Crisis

Over 35 million of lives in Africa are pushed to the brink of starvation and death. The severest food crisis in decades is now threatening 11 Africa countries, including South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Kenya, etc. Over 900,000 children are suffering moderate to severe acute malnutrition owing to insufficient food.

Drought, diseases, armed conflicts as well as economic insecurity have aggravated the food crisis situation even worse and immediate humanitarian assistance is deeply in need. Please DONATE NOW to bring them hope!

“I am 75 years old. I have not ever seen such a severe drought,” said Abdi. Abdi’s family are taking refuge in temporary shelters in northern Somalia. They travelled there by foot, some 150 kilometres from their home. The difficult journey also claimed the vast majority of his livestock, “We had travelled with 1,200 goats and sheep, only 60 survived.”

Most people in Somalia are pastoralists. They depend on their livestock for survival. The drought conditions have forced them to travel long distances in search of water and pasture. “This drought is different from the previous ones. People from all over do not have anywhere to escape.” explained by Abdi.

The affected in Africa urgently require clean water, food, nutritional supplements, medicine and other humanitarian assistance. Though we have mobilized HK$1.1 million and deployed personnel to support the life-saving operations in Africa, with the huge increase in number of affected people in the region, we definitely need your support to carry out more immediate humanitarian assistance in a swift manner.

Please support and help us to raise an extra HK$600,000 in order to bring hope and humanitarian aid to those affected by Africa Food Crisis!
