I target to raise HK$10,000 for THE STANDARD CHARTERED HONG KONG MARATHON 2021.

Hello!

I was never much of a runner. I was one of those you see multitasking at the gym i.e., on the crosstrainer while catching up on Netflix shows!

When gyms closed in Feb 2020 due to COVID-19, I started running and (fast forward to three weeks ago), I was asked whether I wanted to run the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon for the Anti-Cancer Society!!!

Fundraising for this cause is particularly important to me because in late 2017 I had to go to hospital due to sudden excruciating pains in my leg. I was immediately made to use crutches, to be on a strict diet and avoid commuting to work. Surgery a few months later removed all the bad tissue (which they suspected were cancer tumours) from inside my right femur. Luckily it turned out to be a rare bone disorder called Fibrous Dysplasia but through an experience which lasted over a year, I know all too well how scary cancer is. 

No every time I pound those pavements and trails, I feel so lucky to be able to use my legs in this way. Through the support of amazing doctors, family and friends I was able to overcome this painful hurdle in my life so I want to pay it forward and raise funds for The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society!

Donations will support the “ Charity Bed Programme”, to provide low cost or free nursing care services to meet the diverse need of underprivileged cancer patients during their arduous cancer journey.
