I target to raise HK$500,000 for THE STANDARD CHARTERED HONG KONG MARATHON 2021.

In the past two years, the society almost stopped under the looming Covid-19 pandemic. However, those in need continue to be in need, and may even face more devastating situation because of the pandemic.

Through the Portia Cheung Breast Cancer Support Programme under Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society (HKACS), we have been able to support needy breast cancer patients for doing PET-CT Scan to help staging the cancer and for purchasing extra nourishment and breast prosthesis which currently are not funded by the Government etc. The Programme also helps link them up with social workers, in order to care for their physical, mental and spiritual needs.

With thanks to your continuous support, we have since the set-up of the Programme in 2007 given out more than HK$5 million to help over 800 cancer patients. Our latest appeal for donation through the Marathon in February 2019 raised over HK$500,000 donation, and we gave out over $600,000 in that year. Despite the suspension of the Marathon fundraising due to Covid-19, the Programme still continues to help those cancer patients in need. We have given out over HK$1.4 million to help more than 210 needy breast cancer patients from 2020 till now without any fundraising during the period. As a result, the fund is depleting and may be used up next year without further fundraising support.

With the resumption of the Marathon this year, I sincerely appeal for your generosity and support so that we may bless more patients in need and help them maintain a good quality of life with dignity during the trying period.

Love never fails - the pandemic may have separated people; but love shall break barriers and shine in all corners.
