Dr. Mixinstein is a game that allows you to freely construct your own alien world with the good doctor’s Super Mixer!

Overview:

How can you develop an alien planet when there are no resources on the planet? That’s the exact problem that Dr. Mixinstein and you came across when you discovered a barren planet full of shy and adorable aliens.

With your help, Dr Mixinstein, the first Hong Kong mobile game seeking crowdfunding, will become a reality.

We are inspired by alchemy puzzle games such as Little Alchemy, Doodle God, and Pixel People. With these influences in mind, we combined the alchemy gameplay with world building concepts from Populous, Black and White, and SimCity. The result is an epic puzzle and world building game where users will have influences not only to the world they build, but to the rules of the game itself as well.

We have a great concept and a team ready to go, and with FringeBacker, we can do it. We want to work closely with gamers, and we are opening opportunities for those who wish to have their creativity valued to become part of this process.

The Game:

As Dr. Mixinstein’s assistant, it is your mission to use the Super Mixer to accomplish two goals.

First Goal: Create all the elements needed to develop the alien planet.

Second Goal: Build a new space ship to get off the planet!

Unlike most games where the world is as big as the developer's creation, Dr. Mixinstein actually allows and encourages the players create items that are never thought of by our team. You can even use items created by the community, so the game is forever growing!

Dr. Mixinstein will be available on iOS platform at launch, but we are trying our best to get Android version released at launch as well. PC and other console versions are being considered at the moment, but unfortunately, we can only do so much with the budget we have at the moment. There are many cool features that we wish to add to this game, but in reality, every feature put into the game requires money to back it up, so your support is crucial to what we can do.

Base Pledge at HKD$30,000

By helping us with reaching our base pledge at HKD$30,000, we will be able to cover some of the basic illustration and computer and server hardware cost.

Stretch Goal:

HKD $80,000: This is the amount we need to complete the game with minimal features. We still won’t be able to put any food on the table for the development team, but at least we can get the game done.

HKD $120,000: This is the actual budget we need to finish the game with high polish standard. Better sound and music, more animation.

HKD $150,000: Android version will be made available at launch.

HKD $200,000: Daily Missions feature will be added.

HKD $250,000: World Wonders game feature will be added.

HKD $300,000: We can port the game to PC version.

HKD $300,000+: OUYA, Wii U, PS4, Xbox ONE, YOUR PICK! With the next-gen systems coming this year, we might be able to work something out with the consoles.

Rewards:

Making game is an awesome experience, but in reality, everyone in the team needs money to live. So far, we’ve been developing the game with a budget of $10,000, and it’s pretty hard for the team to focus with reality kicking at our door. We want to produce a complete product for you, and we need to get equipment and food to do so. This is why we are asking you to pledge a small amount of money through FringeBacker. If the campaign succeeds, it will allow us to properly finish and polish the game. We are prepared to give out some cool things and even make some of your dreams come true in return!

HKD$100: Receive special “Science Supporter” title in game. You’ll also receive special emails from us with leaks to the game prior at various development stage before the press and media! + all previous rewards

HKD$200: Super Battery Pack to help you get a head start in the game. A unique animated character “Alien Sponsor” will roam your alien planet + all previous rewards

HKD$500: Dr. Mixinstein will wear a T-Shirt of your look instead of his lab coat in your game, meanwhile a T-Shirt of Dr. Mixinstein will be mailed to you. + all previous rewards (Limited to 50)

HKD$1000: Invitation to join us as game tester. You’ll be invited to our launch party, and you will gain the title “Lab Master” in game. + all previous rewards (Limited to 20)

HKD$5000: Exclusive invitation to visit Fingerprint Studio, and become part of our team as our creative committee. You will have a chance to really having your ideas put into our current and next game! You’ll be invited to our special team hangouts, and your name will be listed as a FringeBacker Producer in game. Also, your own character (designed by you or by our art team, your choice) will appear in every copy of Dr. Mixinstein. + all previous rewards (Limited to 10)

Our Team:

Have you ever come across something that you really wanted to do but never got the chance to do so? Have you ever been criticized as being inadequate for an opportunity and got rejected for the chance to make a difference? We certainly understand how that feels, and that is the reason we founded Fingerprint Studio Limited.

We are an independent game development studio founded by a group of passionate game lovers who won’t back down from obstacles that tries to stop us from reaching our dream to make video games. We are committed to make high-quality games, leaving a “fingerprint” in player’s mind with our emphasis on story, characters, and gameplay.

Our team consists of programmers, graphic illustrators, and designers with years of experience in creative industry. Our team is located in Hong Kong, and we intend to reach out to the global community with as many local talents as possible.

Calling out:

Hong Kong is an international hub for video games. We grew up with them, and we experience all sorts of games from all kinds of game developers across the world. From American and Japanese big titles, to European, Korean, and Chinese games, there aren’t many places on Earth that have such a wide spectrum of games made so easily available. This is a rich background that is very rare elsewhere on Earth.

Unfortunately, this city is not the best nurturing ground for indie game developers. We have the ideas, we have the tools, but often we lack the support. By participating in this project, we are not only calling out for funds. We are calling out to all those who share the same dreams as us, to those who have a dream but was denied for the chance to make it happen. Let’s create the source for our dream to come true.

1. The greatest risk in a game development project is the core programmer leaving without a suitable replacement. We are actually spreading the workload between a few programmers, with all materials and progress are shared openly. So should the situation appear when a programmer is severely injured or ill, we can still cover the workload and make sure things move along.

2. Creating all the game's assets, code, art, and sound requires tremendous amount of effort and energy. We are limited to create what we can within the budget, and or current budget really isn't sufficient to get things going. That's why we need all the help we can get from the community.

3. Due to the difference in coding, we may not be able release both Android and iOS version together at launch. However, we do promise that we will try our best to get both versions out.
