At International Christian School, students are required to create their own “Make a Difference Projects” (MAD). The goal for each project is to strive to make a noticeable and positive difference within one’s community to promote and initiate a better environment locally or globally. In the past, students decided to organize and produce a charity fashion show, in order to fundraise and help others. This year, a group of students are determined to organize and lead a non-school affiliated, non-profitable charity fashion show named Caelestis (kye-les-tess). In previous year, we have raised awareness and money for both Mothers Choice and Pathfinder and both were resounding success. Last year, our show was a immense success and all proceeds were given to charity. Our next show will be held on the 25th of February  and all profits will be donated to a local charity that we have chosen - International Care Ministries.

International Care Ministries (ICM) is an organization that serves the ultra-poor in the Philippines since 1992. In partnership with community leaders from thousands of slum communities, ICM’s programs transform the lives of more than 100,000 destitute people each year. We plan to donate all proceeds to International Care Ministries to help them with their vision as well as raise awareness for the poverty in the Philippines. Through Caelestis, we want to show that there is always a way for us to make a change and impact the lives of children that live in impoverished communities. Our goal this year is to continue in partnership with ICM to help fund children who are born with Cleft Palates. ICM has put a growing focus on these children and this issue. They encounter at least 25-30 cases every year in the Philippines. On average, $10,000 HKD would cover the costs of fully treating a child.

“My Mother Gave Me My Smile”

  In order to reach this goal, Caelestis will need to fundraise in order to be able to organize and create the fashion show. Therefore, this year Caelestis hopes to raise around 50,000 to 60,000 to help 5-6 children with this disorder. In order for the production of the show, we will aim to raise around 35,000 HKD. The majority of the funds raised through fringebacker will be used on logistics and deposits, renting tech equipment, chairs, and the sound systems.  Our project will not only benefit the children living in the Philippines but also serve as an example and show that even students can make a difference in the world.
