MQ Musical Theatre has always dared ourselves to dream, create, and produce a Broadway style, full-scale musical. We hope you share the same vision with us and support our dream of producing one of the best international level theatre musicals - "The Bluebird of Happiness". Let the Arts in HK take flight!

To support a local produced Musical "The Bluebird of Happiness" - a truly international level production produced by local theatre talents in HK, "The Bluebird of Happiness" is a musical theatre adaptation of the play written by Belgian playwright and Nobel Prize Winner, Maurice Maeterlinck.

It is a delightful Christmas story about a brother and a sister, Mytyl and Tyltyl, who are on a quest for the magical blue bird that will bring them all the happiness they desire. They suddenly find themselves on an exciting adventure - meeting enchanting characters that help them learn heartwarming and valuable lessons along the way.

During Christmas of 2013, Asia's premiere Christian theater group, TRUMPETS, brought the story to the stage for the new generation to enjoy, under the direction of Jaime Del Mundo and original music by Rony Fortich. This production received numerous acclamations including "The Best Musical", "The Best Music and Musical Direction", and many more. The rave reviews praised its captivating story, music, talented cast, and magical production design.

This Christmas, “The Bluebird of Happiness” takes flight in Hong Kong for the first time. It will be presented by MQ Musical Theater, a musical theatre company that has been promoting fun family entertainment to Hong Kong audiences, young and old, since 2002. This is truly a local theatre production that Hong Kong people should be proud of. We believe we have great theatre talents in Hong Kong who can produce Broadway style and scale music for our HK audiences.

This newest production features fantastic stage effects combined with an excellent production team including:

• Lights featuring an LED wall by famous lighting designer, Allen Fung
• Stunning sceneries designed by one of the top set designers in Hong Kong, Yoki Lai
• Beautiful music and dance numbers directed and choreographed by Jeffery Garcia and Ronaldo Labian
• Stylish costumes and images created by our costume and image designer, Annie Yu, with the help of the students from The Hong Kong Design Institute’s Department of Fashion and Image Designs

Performance Details

Purpose of crowdfunding and how will the funds be used

As an arts lover, you must support arts development, especially high quality shows. Producing a musical theatre production requires a lot of time and effort as this is like producing a drama, a dance, and a concert at the same time; so we hope you would support us in order make this show even more magical, we need your help to cover some of the costs of the production.

We also aim to perform an additional show on 19 December, 2014 (Fri) with your support. In return, thru FringeBacker's crowdfunding, we would offer an exclusive experience. A rare opportunity from meeting the stars of "The Bluebird of Happiness" to backstage tours in seeing how a musical theatre production works from behind the scenes, to interact and engage you to become part of our production team.
