SPY B, an awesome movie written, directed and produced by David Wong, is Hong Kong's answer to the newest exciting genre to hit the world stage, iPhone filmmaking.  This follows the success of Cannes award-winning director Park Chan-wook's Golden Bear award for the best short film at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival for Night Fishing (Paranmanjang), a 30-minute short film shot entirely with iPhones.

SPY B is a dark comedy shot solely on iPhones, about secret agents and their dating lives, a satire on everyone who is burdened with intrigue and secrets, yet struggles with ordinary needs like Facebook status, fashion, and shopping.  It is a story about confrontation, transformation, judgement, and more.

Demonstrating the greatness of imagination and creativity brought about by the new medium of iPhone filmmaking, the story is told through the eyes of 8-inch toy figures -- the hero, Secret Agent Mr. B, struggles between his demanding boss and in seek of his dream date. However, the story unfolds only when he delves deeper into the addictive secret agent dating website, discovering that not all is as it appears.....

WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THIS PROJECT？

I want to make an iPhone film, both for iPhone fans and with iPhone fans.  But if I pitch this film proposal to a major studio, I would have to suffer a lot of compromises in exchange for their financial backing.  That's not what I want to do.  I definitely want to avoid all of that.  The iPhone film that I want to make is one that is entirely original, very different, and absolutely true and genuine to what all iPhone lovers cherish.  I want to thrive on the creativity that the internet and iPhone allows.

From that outset, evolving from the 30-second artist trailer shown here, SPY B will be a full 30-minute film shot solely on iPhone, unique to my style, with an elaborate story arc and a cast of colourful characters.  Filmmakers see huge potential in this hot new genre of iPhone filmmaking, as an alternative to traditional filmmaking equipment.  The small size of the iPhone facilitates multiple camera angles for every scene, saving a great deal of time during shooting, and allowing me to complete my production in just 6 months.  Actors also perform more naturally due to the unintrusive nature of the iPhone.  As Korea's renowned director of photography Hong Gyeong-po said, iPhone filmmaking really has changed forever the perspectives of both making and enjoying a film.

WHO I AM

I, a.k.a IFEELCOOL, love to indulge in anything creative. I work in advertising with a double identity as fashion columnist in Hong Kong NEXT (Next+ONE), China Esquire,  Milk B magazine, YOHO Girl magazine etc.  I also develop my own iPhone book app《everyone 時尚博客私故事》《30 Days Thoughts From Fashion Legends》and many creative projects such as lifestyle stationary and iPhone film...

I eat, sleep and work every day -- but as for the rest of my time, I play with my iPhone!  So come and join me now! 

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

Working as screenwriter, photographer, director and producer, I need more resources to support this 6-month production.  I have already committed significant resources to preparations for SPY B.  The award-winning Night Fishing was made on a budget of US$136,000 funded by KT, Korea's exclusive iPhone service provider. Without having this kind of funding from a major telecom company, I have however been fortunate to have a great deal of support from my industry friends in order to significantly reduce my production cost.

As an independent film producer, I am able to make this film at a fraction of the cost of making a Berlin Film Festival award-winning iPhone film.  And I will deliver the film directly to you.  People say that in order to bring something of quality to fans, you must make a film in a very expensive way -- Night Fishing has proven that is not the case, but I have succeeded in bringing costs even more.  As a result, my funding target is just the balance of my production cost, and has been reduced to HK$25,000.
