One Goal Asia Campaign - Nutrition for Every Child

Asia is home to 578 million of the nearly 1 billion malnourished people in the world and 100 million of the 165 million children under 5 who suffer from stunting. In addition, in recent years, many countries in Asia have also seen increasing rates of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes, obesity, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. NCDs are the first killers in the South-East Asia Region, accounting for 55% of all deaths each year and together with undernutrition and stunting, they place a heavy burden on Asian society, reducing disability-adjusted life years and causing deep economic losses due to lost productivity and increased healthcare costs.

In spite of the progress made by several global, regional and national campaigns, the double burden of stunting and NCDs still persists and, in some cases, has increased. In light of this, the Asia Football Confederation (AFC), the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP), the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Royal DSM and World Vision International (WVI) have joined together in a consortium and have committed to working towards a healthier future for children, football players and fans in Asia powered by football.
