COURSE MARKING, MAP AND GPS
The route will be marked with Yellow ribbons. It is imperative that you follow the paths with the markers without taking
short cuts. Any runner seen taking a short cut along the route will be penalized/disqualified.
Every runner will be provided with a race bib and a timing chip. Race numbers must be visible at all times.

MAP is available HERE
A GPS file of the full route can be downloaded to your device.
Option 1: click here to go to Suunto website and then you have to "send to the device" or "export". Option 2: download the GPX file directly [here] on your computer and then upload to your device.

CHECK  POINT AND REFRESHMENTS POSTS
One check point with water at 5KM on Wisdom path.

Complete refreshments (drinks and food) will be offered at the finish (Pak Kung Au).
IMPORTANT  NOTE: For logistic reason, ONLY 100ml (one cup) of water per participant will be available at the top of Lantau Peak (finish line). You must then walk/run down to Pak Kung Au to have access to complete refreshment.
Any runner seen throwing down their litter along the route will be penalized.

EQUIPMENT
Runners are required to be semi self-sufficient, and should carry a minimum of 500mL of water (weather will be hot and humid). NO outside assistance is authorized beyond the limits of the check point (any food/drinks found on the course will be collected by the staff and the participant responsible will be penalized). Pacer and support runners are strictly prohibited. The participant may be penalized or disqualified for breaches of the rules.
Taking part in the Vertical involves accepting without reservation the current regulations and the ethic of the race.

RESCUE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
First aid posts are positioned at the check point (Ngong Ping) and the top of Lantau Peak (finish line). A medical control team is present during the entire duration of the event.
If it appears that a runner is in difficulty or seriously injured, it is essential that each runner helps anybody in danger and alerts the first aid point. Do not forget, that due to the difficulty of access of certain locations, one might have to wait for assistance for longer than anticipated.

Each runner must stay on the way-marked paths, even to sleep. Any runner who voluntarily leaves the way-marked path is no longer under the responsibility of the organization.

MAXIMUM AUTHORIZED TIME
The maximum time to reach the top of Lantau Peak is fixed at 3:00. You should then take no more than 1:30 to walk down to the finish area.

DROP BAGS
On the morning of the race there will be a van where you can drop your bag that you will recover at the finish.

DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE
Except for injury, a runner must not retire anywhere else other than at the check point (5km from the start). He must therefore inform the person in charge of the post, who definitively invalidates his race bib and recuperates the electronic chips. The check points is accessible by public transport within a short distance. Therefore, the runner who retires from the race will be redirected to the public bus (each runner must have cash/octopus).
