Lifeline Express is a custom-built hospital eye-train, aiming to provide free operations for the underprivileged cataract patients in Mainland China. It has expanded from one eye-train to four, and more than 200,000 patients have regained their eyesight on the eye-trains since its inception in July 1997.

During the past 22 years, Lifeline Express has set up 80 Eye Centres throughout Mainland China. Ophthalmology Consultants from foreign countries are invited to the Centres to conduct training programs for the local eye doctors to enhance their competence in patient care.

In 2014, Lifeline Express extended its scope of service to diabetic sufferers in Mainland, providing free screening to them for Diabetic Retinopathy, an eye disease which could cause permanent blindness if not detected early and treated properly.
