The Antarctica Expedition and Exhibition explores how student artists, researchers and scientists working together can collect and interpret environmental data using new forms of creativity and visualization. Students will carry out research in environmentally-significant Antarctica to create media art and design projects that offer new approaches to understanding climate change and sustainable solutions.

The planet’s most remote landscapes are among the most fragile and endangered. However, they also offer unique insights into a sustainable future. This project brings together teams in the sciences and humanities to help better understand these issues.

This December, 23 students from City University of Hong Kong will trek to Antarctica on an art and science research expedition to find new ways to understand climate change. They are from Science, Engineering, Arts and Humanities all crossing boundaries to help Hong Kong, Asia and the world better understand climate change and sustainable solutions.

The Project

Every project is a hybrid of two or more fields of study that was envisioned and organized at the student level.  We hope you'll look at what we're doing:

The Antarctica ‘footprint’ of this programme is designed to be zero: We have partnered with scientific organizations dedicated to environmental protection of this endangered resource, and no project is invasive or damaging to the continent.

Antarctica Expedition Dates: December 2013-January 2014

Support & Sponsorship

We welcome individuals or corporates to support this once in a lifetime journey for our students.

Corporate, organizational or individual donors who wish to contribute to the programme will receive sponsorship recognition in the exhibition, publicity and catalogue if they desire it. We may also be able to accommodate special requests, such as photo opportunities and souvenirs. The tax-deductible donations may be eligible for some matching support, enhancing the resources available to the projects.

All funds received, whether raised from the main project or the 14 individual projects, will be evenly shared by all students. These funds go directly to us, and are not connected to the university. The money is meant to offset our travel costs, and assist our families to lessen their financial burdens and hardship. We all need your generous support!

Please also kindly check the link below for all the 14 projects. We are grateful for your monetary help, support and encouragement.
