Cambodia has a population of 16 million people and is one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia. Approximately 220,000 children don’t have access to education and between 30-50% of the population are illiterate or semi-illiterate.

In the Krangyow Commune, Kandal Province – approximately 2 hours from Phnom Penh, lessons for pre-schoolers have been conducted in a borrowed Pagoda, next to the iLead Community Center. The learning area consists only of a few chairs and blackboard, and children are often distracted by the daily operation of the Pagoda.

To address this problem, Engineers Without Borders Hong Kong , partnered with Aide et Action (Hong Kong), would like to setup the prototype school to improve the school capacity such that all-rounded education can be provided.

As part of the project, facilities in the iLead Community Center will also be improved by installing a door and repairing fences and gates which pose as safety hazards.

We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children and poor communities. As this project is run purely on a voluntary basis, we invite you to take the first step with us. Your donation will be 100% used for the project, which we will report on regularly.

Engineers Without Borders (Hong Kong)

Engineers Without Borders (Hong Kong) is an engineering-based, approved charitable institution, which is exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (IRD File No. 91/9757). By serving as a bridge between voluntary engineers and the disadvantaged, we aim to accelerate betterment in life of disadvantaged communities and promote sustainable development through empowerment of engineering means, as well as enhance the capacity of Hong Kong’s professionals in the generations to come contributing to the communities in need.

Engineers Without Borders - International is working in 64 developing countries, empowering disadvantaged communities by engineering solutions.  Engineers Without Borders (Hong Kong) is founded in 2008, supporting projects in Hong Kong, Cambodia and Myanmar. One of our key challenges is the lack of funding that is unable to cover our projects. For partnership projects, the funding is provided by the partner organization while we provide professional engineering consultation.
