Engineers Without Borders (Hong Kong) is working with Aide et Action (Hong Kong) to build schools and community center facilities in Kandal Province in Cambodia (about 2 hours drive from Phnom Penh). After several months of preparation, our voluntary engineers already completed the site visit in October 2017 and designed the engineering drawings responding to local needs. Local construction workers will be hired to build schools, in order to provide local employment opportunities and create a win-win situation.

Upgrade the facilities at the iLead Community Center

There is currently no door at the centre. The damaged fence also threatens the safety of children. By repairing the school fence and gates, we hope to provide a safer and more secure learning environment for our children.

Building a preschool classroom

Currently, AEA Cambodia borrows a pagoda next to the iLead Community Center to organize preschool classes. It is located in the corner of the pagoda with only a few chairs and a blackboard. However, it is the only school in the community. Our engineers also observed that the daily operation of the pagoda largely affects children's learning. Therefore, they hope to provide children with an ideal learning space by designing a school blueprint that meets both international standards and local needs. With this school as a pilot, the long-term goal is to apply this design to other parts of Cambodia.

We hope that this project will contribute in the long run. Therefore, the schools we are building are not only suitable for our target group. We hope that the school design can be applied to other communities as well in the future. Since the project is fully on a voluntary basis without any financial funding, we invite you to support us to take the first step. Your donation will be 100% used for the project and we will report the progress of the project to you regularly.
