Organizer: Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society
The Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society (HKNPIS) was founded as a non-profit organization in July 2011 by a group of passionate persons with a disability, social workers and professionals. Its objective is to facilitate the active participation of persons with a disability in the community, and nurture a culture that promotes diversity, inclusiveness and altruistic behaviours.
The HKNPIS has set up Fearless Dragon Running Team which mainly consists of blind persons and deaf persons ( the pronunciation of “Fearless Dragon” in Cantonese sounds like “blind and deaf”). The running team is active in promoting inclusiveness and participation of charitable events. The team has developed a cycling team and a trailwalk team, all based on the concept of sports rehabilitation which is aimed to enhance the body mind fitness and confidence of the members and encourage members to contribute to the society through charity. The training and participation in races of the Fearless Dragon teams are funded by public donations
MIRARunners is a sustainable community project co-founded in 2017 by Lukas Wambua Muteti of Kenya and Candice Ma from Hong Kong with the following objectives:
Assisting Kenyan runners who have professional training but lack of job opportunities at hometown to develop their marathon career
Training road runners and the next generation runners from all over the world through professional training
Connecting runners and communities from Asian cities and Kenyan to build friendships, interacting with each other to improve the physical and mental health of urban people.
