What is Collaction

Collaction is a startup crowdsourcing platform that allows people to meet new friends and hence, to finish their goals, achievements or projects together.

"Collaction" combines the words "collect" and "action". It is an online crowdsourcing platform that aims to connect ideas, people and resources. We encourage people not just think, but to take actions. We also advocate the "Give & Take" spirit to more Hong Kong people so that to rebuild a stronger cooperation among the community.

Collaction promotes a more even resource distribution in society, and raise the efficiency of resource exchange. It is free of charge. And we believe that, when the right resources meet the right people, wonderful ideas can be realized, and ultimately, make a better society.

Life is about "give" and "take". Sometimes we give and sometimes we take. During the process, we will meet new friends, take actions, hopefully, bring innovation. At Collaction, we believe Dreamers and contributors make projects possible and ignite people’s dreams.

Art in our lives  

Pair Up (Completed)

In March, we have organized an event "I have a dream" to collaction people's dream. Finally we collected more than 500 dreams ( We are still collecting dreams. Come and join us at https://www.collaction.hk/ihaveadream ). Among all the dreams, we found out that quite a majority were art related. Thus we wanted to extend the initiative of “I Have A Dream” into our daily lives. We invited artists and design students with local small stores from May to June. Finally, we successfully paired up six shops and six artists as one-to-one pair, so that they work together through the artistic ideas and suggestions to enrich the color and fun of local design & culture!

 

Concept and Design (Completed)

We hope to promote local artistic culture through this campaign and finally the outcomes will be shared with the public. We paired up 6 pairs of artists and local small store from June to July.  All of the artists have already submitted their draft to Collaction. The art pieces will be exhibited at the stores after crowdfunding. We are considering to extend the campaign if feedback is good.

 

Crowdfunding, Cafting and Exhibition

All preparative work of this project was made possible with a crowdfunding. This fund-raising is aimed to cover all part of the following expenses:

Each of the artists have the maximum $1,000 material allowance, i.e. maximum  of artworks: (est.) HKD 6,000

Printing of promotional materials of project: (approx.) HKD 3,000

If the crowdfunding is successful, the artists will start their works and have a showcase in each stores from Sept. 12 to Oct. 11.

 

The following six stores will be participating in this campaign:

Pair 1: Bike The Moment x Daydream 

Bike The Moment Store is a bicycle lifestyle store under Bike The Moment, a Hong Kong local-based urban cycling website and facebook page. It is now a café + store and the only premium reseller of tokyobike in Hong Kong. 

/Design description/

[First Draft]

I am a daydreamer, imagining myself a wanderess, and wondering how far I can reach without bondages. My idea is to pair a bike with clouds together. It is an interesting combination to tie up the fibred and cloud-shaped balloons on a Tokyo Bike, bringing visitors to fly above the sky.

 

[Second Draft]

Entering Bike The Moment is like get into the dreams of others. I want to create a space that presents the realm of dreams. With the materials of woods, fibres and papers, I will make different shapes of clouds roaming on the store. They are independent but can harmonize well with each other, feeling like a good dream created by people with different interesting ideas.

Pair2: Pure cafe & patisserie X Rain Yiu from Yiunique

Pure Café & Patisserie makes and sells homemade Japanese and French style desserts.

 

/Design description/

The special menu of Pure Cafe & Patisserie inspired me to make this set of artwork. Pure Cafe & Patisserie is a cafe and dessert shop in Yuen Long. Its owner, Gigi and Tim, put much efforts to design their own dessert. They serve people with creative and playful dessert as well as popular all day breakfast, which always surprise the customers. You can also find a cup of rich and smooth coffee on their menu. Apart from dessert, here also provides tasty snack.

This set of artwork highlights the diversified menu in Pure Cafe & Patiserrie. Using round canvas to imitate the round plates and painting with top-down angle, it feels like the Strawberry Ice Cream Waffles, all day breakfast and Latte pop up in front of you. Hope that they can bring you not only satisfaction in taste but also visual fun. 

 

 

Pair 3: Café Sausalito X Paccaya House

Café Sausalito provides a relaxing space. It sometimes holds Mini Concert to provide show opportunities for musicians, for example, there was a fabulous performance of Saxophonist before. Moreover, it holds workshops like lavender soap DIY and Standup comedy. All these are carried out with the purpose of attracting more people to Café Sausalito, so as to understand more about coffee and the art culture of Sham Shui Po.

 

/Design description/

Café Sausalito will work with Paccaya_house to make a woodcut. Café Sausalito will work with Paccaya_house, making a wall-hanging woodcut. As Café Sausalito is a Café with many artists as frequent customer, therefore Café Sausalito and Paccaya_house would like to increase interaction with customers though involving them in designing the pieces of the final work. In Balinese, Paccaya means the fate that brings people together, it is believed that fate is also what brings people to engage in designing the artwork for this time.
 
What's more, this art idea is conceived in Australia Gold Coast, hope that the sand from Gold Coast can make the artwork even more special!

 

Pair 4: Sand House HK X Sara Chyan Jewellery

Sand House is the first indoor beach party place in Hong Kong.

 

/Design description/

I have been obsessed with lines, including those which may be difficult to discern.  This is an experimental work which enables me to search for the lines that would be invisible in daily life.

 

Pair 5: Go Inside Cafe X Timmie Yu

Go Inside means invite you to go inside the restaurant. It has another meaning to remind people listening to your heart: being truth to yourself.

 

/Design description/

The main theme of this artwork is "jumping out of the box", no matter you're disabled, less privileged than others or not, you can still pursue your dream and live as happy as other people. Through this wall painting, I hope to encourage people to jump outside of their frames and explore the beauty and unknowns in the world. The mood of this artwork will be joyful and dreamy.

Pair 6: Papillon X Ava x PooLB x RBB

Papillon is a private library. The vision of Papillon is "Je rêve. Je réalise", which mean "I dream, I realize". They provide a space for people to enjoy reading and meeting. They always arrange book floating, reading club, different kind of workshop and art activity to promote the reading and art culture.

 

/Design description/

It is my honour to co-operate with Papillon. The concept of "The Little Prince" 3D drawing is come from Charles (The Shop owner of Papillon). She love "The Little Prince" so much. She is planning to arrange an event about "The Little Prince" in September. I will use the cat "Alexander The Great" in Papillon to represent "The Little Prince". The pilot will be represented by RBB. This 3D drawing is trying to extend the story. To show that "The Little Prince" came back to his own planet and visit his rose. The pilot saw "The Little Prince" again. This 3D drawing is representing their dream in front of us.

I will use hand-drawing, computer graphics and 3D printing to complete this 3D drawing.

The decoration(Colourful cloud and the rose...etc) will be completed by the technology of 3D Printing. Both of the 3D decoration and the draft of whole picture will be prepared by the computer graphic. "The Little Prince" and the pilot will be finished by acrylic colour. 

I hope that this 3D drawing can call back the sorrowing of "The Little Prince" and show the happy ending in my dream to all of the audience.

Milestone

If the proceeds raised is more than HKD 11,000, all backer backed with HKD 400 or above will receive a Collaction Memorial Wooden Sketch Clipboard.

 

Notice

The artists and the local small stores reserve the right to make the final decision of the special thank you message printed on the specific artwork's description board.

Each of the artists have the maximum HKD 1,000 allowance for the material fee. All of the balance of this allowance will be donated to UNICEF.
