I have been a huge fan of the Shaw Bros. for a long time and was deeply saddened to learn earlier this year that Run Run had passed away. I am glad to be able to support a project like this to help preserve the great art forms of Kung Fu and all that it entails!

The intention is to make the data accessible to the public. But we have to say eventually as the data capture is merely the first step of a long, laboour-intensive, and expensive exercise. The captured data needs to be cleaned up manually, and the clean-up process cannot keep up the same pace as the documentation. While the motion capture project as such has started, additional funding is required to build a website (which is the only way to make the data widely accessible to the public) but more importantly also to clean up the data. We will post updates on this site to explain the process and also give everyone an idea of the scope of martial arts we are documenting with motion capture. Stay tuned

I love this idea, but it kind of sucks that a research organization is going to collect all of this material and then... what? Will it be available to the public? Can you access it and download pieces? Will it be subscription? The only mention of anyone outside the archive getting to ever see the fruit of their labor is at the very bottom where it says that if a stretch goal is met anyone who pledged above a certain level gets access. What about the rest of us?
