Music Therapy—Percussion band for Physical Handicapped Students

Music is not only good for bringing up our moods, but also benefits the physically disabled students with emotional needs by encouraging them to express feelings and develop self-confidence.

In 2016, Hong Kong Red Cross John F. Kennedy Centre set up a percussion band, 5 students with autism were trained in the program and resulted in a significant improvement of stabilizing their mood. We are convinced that music therapy will benefit the physically handicapped students with autism or increasing autistic feature.

We plan to employ an outreach music therapist in the coming academic year to cater at least 15 students in the percussion band which would encourage them to express their feelings and enhance their communication skills and self-confidence.

In order to help special needs students in Hong Kong Red Cross John. F Kennedy Center to further develop their potentials in music and enhance their confidence via music therapy, we are now raising HK$147,200 for the music therapy program. Please donate now and show your support the students with special needs.
